Slavný americký válečný velkofilm je rekonstrukcí jedné ze zlomových událostí druhé světové války, útoku Japonců na americký přístav Pearl Harbor na Havajských ostrovech, v němž se útočníkům podařilo jediným úderem a téměř beze ztrát potopit nebo alespoň těžce poškodit velkou část naprosto nepřipravené americké tichomořské flotily. Tento zákeřný čin (k útoku došlo ještě před oficiálním vyhlášením války) otřásl Amerikou, která se do té doby snažila zůstat stranou od války na evropském kontinentu. Reakcí na útok byl vstup Ameriky do válečného dění, které pak vyvrcholilo zničením Hirošimy a Nagasaki. (oficiálny text distribútora)
