Florence je vzdělaná mladá žena, jejíž rodiče zemřeli po útoku lvů v Africe, když byla ještě dítě. Sama byla zachráněna jedním vesničanem. Po studiích se zabývá odhalováním šarlatánství a "lovením duchů", na něž nevěří. Roku 1921 přijíždí do chlapecké internátní školy, kde panuje strach kvůli duchovi, který zabil jednoho z žáků. Nejprve vše racionálně vysvětluje, avšak postupně zjišťuje, že ne všechno je tak, jak se zdá, a že ve školní budově už kdysi dávno byla. (Bolldar)
