Špičkový manažer hračkářské firmy Scott Calvin se nemůže vypořádat s důsledky rozvodu. Navíc rozhodně není prototypem ideálního rodiče pro svého syna. Štědrý den s tatínkem je pro malého Charlieho spíš noční můrou než nejkrásnějším večerem roku. To se ale změní ve chvíli, kdy Santa Clause, který v anglosaských zemích přináší dárky komínem, tragicky uklouzne právě na střeše Calvinova domu. Kdo za něj zaskočí? Pochopitelně nešťastný Scott. Ale to zdaleka není všechno, protože v průběhu příštích měsíců se tatínek pomalu ale jistě začne měnit ve skutečného Santa Clause a konečně si začne rozumět se svým synem...
