Moesha je situačná komédia, sledujúca život a dobu černošskej tínedžerky Moeshy Mitchell, ktorá žije v oblasti Leimert Park v Los Angeles, štát California. Jej matka zomrela pred rokmi a Moesha sa tak musí starať o svojho otca Franka a mladšieho brata Mylesa. Keď sa učiteľka z jej školy Dee za Franka vydá, Moesha má pocit, že jej pôsobenie ohrozuje jej nová nevlastná matka. Časom sa však dve ženy v dome naučia navzájom sa vážiť a tešiť sa zo svojej prítomnosti.
Moesha má aj najlepšieho priateľa Kima, ktorý je značne bláznivý a podobá sa na jej večne hladného suseda a kamaráta Hakeema. Títo dvaja Mo podporujú počas všetkých jej ťažkostí. Ďalšou blízkou Moeshinou dôverníčkou je Andelle, majiteľka miestneho obchodu. Práve ona poskytuje v prípade potreby mladému dievčaťu rady a múdrosti súvisiace s peripetiami dospievania.
