Starý mládenec Gabriel (P. Noiret) si žije spokojeným životem, který si okoření jednou do roka zahraniční dovolenou. Tentokrát se vypraví se svým ojetým cadillacem do Španělska, ale auto má poruchu a pan Gabriel je z těchto důvodů přinucen ještě ve Francii přespat v malém hotýlku. Při večeři mu připadají jak hosté, tak i personál poněkud divně, takže ho ani nepřekvapí, že dostal místo u stolu vedle stárnoucí ženy, která se o mužích vyjadřuje velice nelichotivě. Představí se mu jako slečna Muriel (A. Girardot). Oba osamělí lidé se druhý den setkají na pláži a to Gabriel ještě netuší, že přichází zásadní změna jeho života. (MVanis)
