Tom Selleck sa vracia ako bývalý šéf policajného zboru mestečka Paradise Jesse Stone, a to s doteraz najnapínavejšou záhadou. Cindy Van Aldanová bola pre Jesseho ako dcéra. A teraz je mŕtva. Aj keď všetko poukazuje na to, že spáchala samovraždu a predávkovala sa drogami - či už sa jedná o jej pestrú minulosť prešpikovanú závislosťou, asociáciu s vražednými gangstrami či skúsenosti s prostitúciou - Jesse predsa len pozná svoju kamarátku natoľko dobre, aby túto variantu vopred vylúčil.
