Kedysi dávno v dnes už nejestvujúcej krajine ubližoval ľuďom vládca temnôt Aku. Jedného dňa sa mu však postavil na odpor samuraj menom Jack, ktorý mal magický meč. Kým ho však Jack dokázal nadobro zničiť, Aku otvoril časový portál a poslal ho do ďalekej budúcnosti plnej robotov a rôznych mimozemských príšer. Jack sa teraz snaží dostať naspäť domov, popritom však pomáha tým, ktorí ho potrebujú a neustále sa dostáva do životunebezpečných situácií. Zároveň sa snaží nájsť Akua a konečne ho navždy zničiť.
