Americký akčný kriminálny film, v ktorom nechýba odvážny šerif, podlý zločinec, drogy, vylúpená banka, tajné vládne dokumenty, ľúbostný trojuholník ani tajná špeciálna vojenská jednotka. Šerif texaského pohraničného mestečka Jack Benteen (Nick Nolte) s kolegom Hankom Pearsonom (Rip Torn) bojujú proti pašerákom drog, ktorých riadi Cash Bailey (Powers Boothe), Jackov bývalý priateľ z mladosti. Oboch mužov navyše spája láska k rovnakej žene, atraktívnej mexickej speváčke Sarite Cisneros (Maria Conchita Alonsová). Treťou stranou, ktorá má významne zasiahnuť do života hlavných hrdinov, je komando americkej tajnej služby, ktoré chce tiež zlikvidovať nepolapiteľného Baileyho. Jacka rozzúri, že do jeho boja s Baileyho pašerákmi začína zasahovať tretia strana a čoskoro odhalí jej skryté zámery. Veliteľ tajného komanda major Paul Hackett (Michael Ironside) napokon vyloží karty na stôl a otvorene požiada Jacka o spoluprácu. Ten po dlhom váhaní súhlasí. Napokon sa predsa len ukáže, že skutočnosť je celkom odlišná a všetko je trocha inak... (oficiálny text distribútora)
