Znepokojí ho zpráva, že jeho hlavní dodavatel emír Abdalláh (Bernard Blier) chce zvednout cenu za barel ropy o sedm procent. Navíc se na domácím trhu objeví nový konkurent Bernard Bérian (Henri Guybet), majitel malé benzinové stanice a ropný spekulant, který vyhrál konkurz na dodávky ropy z Afriky.
