Catherine Lyonsová, její manžel Jack a dcera Mattie žili spokojený život. Vše se ale naráz zhroutilo po tragické události. Letadlo které Jack pilotoval, ve vzduchu explodovalo a nikdo z cestujících ani členů posádky nepřežil. Příčinou by teroristický útok. Catherine je brzy konfrontována i se závažným obviněním ze strany FBI, že bombu musel na palubu propašovat jeden z pilotů.
