Keď sa rodina Primmovcov presťahuje do New Yorku, ich malý syn Josh sa snaží zvyknúť si na novú školu a nových priateľov. Všetko sa zmení, keď v podkroví svojho domu objaví spievajúceho krokodíla, ktorý miluje kúpele, kaviár a dobrú hudbu. Josh sa so spievajúcim krokodílom veľmi rýchlo spriatelí, ale keď sa objaví zlý sused pán Grumps, existencia krokodíla Lyleho je ohrozená. Pre záchranu Lyleho sa rodina Primmovcov musí spojiť s jeho charizmatickým majiteľom Hectorom a ukázať svetu, že rodina môže vzniknúť na najneočakávanejších miestach a na veľkom spievajúcom krokodílovi nie je nič zlé.
