Legion (2017)

"Who teaches us to be normal when we're one of a kind? " ()

Season 1 (2017) (S01)

"Who teaches us to be normal when we're one of a kind? " ()

Chapter 1 (2017) (S01E01)

Dr. Kissinger - All animals need physical contact to feel love. Syd Barrett - You know those cartoons in, like, magazines? There's a man on an island with, like, maybe a single palm tree. People say, "go to your happy place" and that's what I think about. ()

Chapter 2 (2017) (S01E02)

"We're having a romance of the mind." ()

Chapter 3 (2017) (S01E03)

"Unhand the reptile, space captain!" ()

Chapter 4 (2017) (S01E04)

"We are the root of all our problems, our confusion, our anger, our fear of things we don't understand. Violence in other words, is ignorance. Figure your shit out, that's what I'd say. There are two kinds of stories we tell our children. The first kind; 'Once upon a time there was a fuzzy little rabbit named Frizzytop, who went on a quantum fun adventure, only to face a big setback, which he overcame through perseverance and by being adorable.' This kind of story teaches empathy. Put yourself in Frizzytop's shoes, in other words. The other kind; 'Oliver Anthony Bird if you get too close to that ocean you'll be sucked into the sea and drowned.' This kind of story teaches them fear, and for the rest of their lives, these two stories compete. Empathy and fear. And so I bring you tonight's play, the work in five acts about a fuzzy little bunny, who got too close to the ocean." ()

Chapter 5 (2017) (S01E05)

"Who teaches us to be normal when we're one of a kind? " ()

Chapter 6 (2017) (S01E06)

"People always talk about the depression side. But it is the other side, that invulnerable feeling. It's dangerous." ()

Chapter 7 (2017) (S01E07)

"On the chest of a barmaid in Sale, were tattooed the prices of ale. And on her behind for the sake of the blind, was the same infirnation in brail." ()

Chapter 8 (2017) (S01E08)

"I know, I don't have to be afraid. But I am because look at you. All of you. You're gods, and someday you are going to wake up and realize you don't have to listen to us anymore." ()

Season 2 (2018) (S02)

"And now we must speak of Zhuang Zhou, who fell asleep one day and dreamed he was a butterfly. For hours, he fluttered in the warm winter sun, until he no longer remembered he was Zhuang Zhou. Suddenly he awoke, and he was Zhuang Zhou again. But in that moment, he didn't know. Was he Zhuang Zhou who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly who was dreaming he was Zhuang Zhou? A delusion starts like any other idea. An idea alone isn't enough. We have ideas all the time, random thoughts and theories. Most die before they can grow. For a delusion to thrive, other, more rational ideas must be rejected, destroyed. Only then can the delusion blossom into full-blown psychosis." ()

Chapter 9 (2018) (S02E01)

"He's still inside Oliver. We know that. There have been sightings around the world. He's looking for something. We think. We came close to finding him a couple of times. Then we got distracted by this thing. The Catalyst. We thought it was a weapon at first. Some kind of biological agent. Normal people would freeze like statues, except for that creepy thing they do with their teeth." ()

Chapter 10 (2018) (S02E02)

"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." ()

Chapter 11 (2018) (S02E03)

"You've heard of the placebo effect. But are you aware of the nocebo effect? In which the human body has a negative physical reaction to a suggested harm. Your mind has the power to create its own physical reality. Why do we yawn when we see others yawn? Throughout history, there have been incidents. The Dancing Plague of 1518, the Tanganyika laughter epidemic, the Hindu milk miracle. Some believe they're a response to stress. Psychologists call it a conversion disorder. In that the body converts a mental stress to a set of physical symptoms. In this case, a tic, or spasm. And, like any disorder, it can be contagious. This kind of collective behavior is not limited to human beings. What we know is that, in certain communities, under specific circumstances, an involuntary physical symptom developed by one person can become viral. And spread, from person to person. Until the entire community is infected. And so, my question to you is, if the idea of illness can become illness, what else about our reality is actually a disorder?" ()

Chapter 12 (2018) (S02E04)

"Try again." ()

Chapter 13 (2018) (S02E05)

"My Gran-gran. She liked her Rondo citrus soda, and when I say Rondo citrus soda, I mean, vodka in a Rondo citrus soda can. She-she was, like, one of those clocks that's all fives. You know, those people that say they only drink after 5:00, but then, when you look on their clock, it's all fives. Well, I I would go over there every day after school. "Happy hour," she would call it." ()

Chapter 14 (2018) (S02E06)

"Everywhere is freaks and hairies, creeps and scaries... Tell me, where is sanity? Tax the rich and feed the poor till there ain't no rich no more. I want to change the world but I don't know what to do so I'll leave it up to you. Population Keeps on breeding, nation bleeding, still more feeding. Life is funny. Skies are sunny. Bees make honey. Who needs money? Who needs money? I want to change the world but I don't know what to do so I'll leave it up to you. So I'll leave it up to you. So I'll leave it up to you. World pollution, there's no solution... " ()

Chapter 15 (2018) (S02E07)

"Moral panic is defined as "public anxiety or alarm in response to a perceived threat to the moral standards of society." The road to moral panic has several stops. The first is concern. This concern, limited at first, spreads from person to person amplified by cultural forces until rational concern becomes irrational fear. People come to believe something terrible is happening. Something they cannot see. That they can't control. It has come for others. It will come for them. Whether or not the threat is real, the response certainly is. And it is often excessive. Ask yourself: what's more terrifying, fear, or the frightened?" ()

Chapter 16 (2018) (S02E08)

"And now we come to the most alarming delusion of all. The idea that other people don't matter. Their feelings. Their needs. Imagine a cave where those inside never see the outside world. Instead, they see shadows of that world projected on the cave wall. The world they see in the shadows is not the real world. But it's real to them. If you were to show them the world as it actually is, they would reject it as incomprehensible. Now what if, instead of being in a cave, you were out in the world, except you couldn't see it. Because you weren't looking. Because you trusted that the world you saw through the prism was the real world. But there's a difference. You see, unlike the allegory of the cave, where the people are real and the shadows are false here other people are the shadows. Their faces. Their lives. This is the delusion of the narcissist, who believes that they alone are real. Their feelings are the only feelings that matter because other people are just shadows, and shadows don't feel. Because they're not real. But what if everyone lived in caves? Then no one would be real. Not even you. Unless one day you woke up and left the cave. How strange the world would look after a lifetime of staring at shadows." ()

Chapter 17 (2018) (S02E09)

"My guess is Helsinki. Or Stockholm. Which-which one is in Switzerland?" ()
