Dvaja z najväčších mysliteľov 19. storočia, matematik Carl Friedrich Gauss (Florian David Fitz) a vedec Alexander von Humboldt (Albrecht Schuch), zasvätia svoje životy snahe čo najlepšie zmerať a pochopiť materiálny svet, v ktorom žijú. Humboldt, muž s vášňou pre globálny výskum, žije v úplnom protiklade voči Gaussovi, ktorý spoznáva svet výlučne pomocou matematických teórii a čísiel. Humboldt cestuje so svojím kolegom Aimé Bonplandom (Jérémy Kapone) po celom svete a chce mu porozumieť. Za tým účelom využíva svoje moderné a vedecké myslenie, ktoré aplikuje v doposiaľ neprebádaných oblastiach. Aj keď Gauss trávi väčšinu svojho života na jednom mieste, jeho cesta za matematickými objavmi sa ukáže rovnako bohatá a strhujúca ako Humboldtove dobrodružstvá v odľahlých kútoch sveta. (TV JOJ)
