Nezávislému mužovi do života nečakane vstúpi jeho brat a 10-ročný synovec... Charlie (Charlie Sheen) je slobodný muž, ktorý má dom na pobreží, jaguára v garáži a priťahuje pozornosť krásnych žien, ktoré sa nepýtajú na cit. Jeho ľahkovážny a neformálny životný štýl je však narušený, keď sa k nemu nasťahuje jeho brat Alan (Jon Cryer) so svojím synom Jakeom (Angus T.Jones). Spolu títo dva a pol chlapi konfrontujú rôzne životné princípy a stoja pred mnohými životnými výzvami.
